After a few sad goodbyes, two flights, and a cab ride, I am finally in the beautiful little town of Paderno del Grappa, Italy!
Driving into Paderno!
Monday: I arrived in Munich, Germany early Monday morning. We then had a short flight to Venice where we were met by Fabio, Paderno's local cab driver/pizzeria owner/doctor...I know, what a versatile guy. Anyways, we got to our amazing campus around 3:30 Mon afternoon, and Allie and I unpacked our luggage and hung around until dinner at 6. We then had an orientation at 7, and even though we were exhausted and had yet to sleep, we went out afterward to a little bar called La Piazza.
Me, Molly, Hannah, Caitlin & Allie outside La Piazza!
Tuesday: We had to be at another orientation type meeting at 8:45 Tues morning; needless to say, Allie and I were 30 mins late, give or take... No one noticed though, so at least we didn't get in trouble! After lunch, we had our "A" classes, which are the classes we will be taking on Mon, Wed, Fri. I actually really enjoyed all of my teachers, so that is a plus! Later that evening, we had two busses take our group to the mall to get much needed supplies (blow dryers and straighteners, obviously). The busses were leaving at 6:45, and Allie and I were getting money out of the ATM when we saw the busses begin to drive away. We then had to run out and wave our hands like idiots so the busses would stop and let us in. People should know us know as the girls who are never on time. (Don't worry mom and dad, we are working on our tardiness). After we shopped, we ate pizza at the mall. It was nothing special, tasted like Sbarro; however, the gelato was muy bueno! Once we got home, we went out to the pizzeria that Fabio and his wife own. It was so cute, and I can't wait to try the pizza there!
Wednesday: Starting at 8 am (I have 8 am classes everyday starting Feb 1.. yikes!), I had my "B" classes, which are my Tues, Thurs classes. My first class was with Simone (see-mo-nay). He's Italian and has such a cute accent, and he is soo funny! I may not even mind my 8 am's! Later that evening, we had a travel orientation, where they informed us on traveling through Europe and gave us great advice and tips: very beneficial. Once again, we went out later that night (drinking games with wine, hmm...).
Thursday: What an annoying day. We had a "problem solving and decision making workshop" from 9am-5pm. It was extremely tedious and common sense, but luckily Roy, our teacher, is an MBA teacher at Iowa, and he will have the Iowa kids over to his apt soon for tacos because we will get sick of the cafeteria pasta (that's for sure). During our 2 hour lunch break, Allie and I went to the tabacchi that has fresh deli meats and cheeses, and we got sandwiches. Guess who was there.. Roy..
That is all for now. We're staying in tonight because we still haven't caught up on our sleep! I can't wait to tell you all about the rest of my experiences...stay tuned!!
